The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.killyourdarlingsjournal.com\/2012\/07\/announcing-kyd-ya-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kill Your Darlings Great Aussie YA Championship<\/a> has begun!<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned the Championship a few days ago, and now the list of 11 great YA books from the past 30 years has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.killyourdarlingsjournal.com\/2012\/07\/kyd-ya-championship-contributors-titles-and-how-to-win\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a>. The posts will begin on Monday, and you can vote for your favourite of the contributor&#8217;s books (pick me! pick me!) plus they will also be running a people&#8217;s choice competition, where you can vote for whatever book you like.<\/p>\n<p>As you will see from the list, I chose to write about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allenandunwin.com\/default.aspx?page=311&amp;author=197\" target=\"_blank\">Joanne Horniman<\/a>&#8216;s 1997 novel <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.qbd.com.au\/product\/9781862913349-Loving_Athena_by_Joanne_Horniman.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Loving Athena<\/a><\/em>. I have been a fan of Joanne&#8217;s novels forever, and I was really pleased to have the opportunity to revisit this gorgeous book.
